Eckhart and Jessie Eckhart (Cousino); his wife Susan Eckhart of Decatur; his children, Douglas Eckhart (Juli Paini) of Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, Julie Liston of Maize and Carole Hostetter of Hoover, Alabama; his grandchildren, Alex, Nathan Eckhart, Paige, Abigail Liston, Cayla Johnson (Dan), Clayton Hostetter (Hannah) and Caden Hostetter; and his great grandchildren, Anna, Madelyn, Charlotte Johnson and Ellory Hostetter. He was also cherished by 2 brothers; 6 sisters.
