He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Ulrich Gerber and Sadie Solome Gerber (Schwartz); his siblings, Danny, Ron, Steve Gerber and Peggy Ratz; and his in-laws, Richard Kipfer and Jane Gerber.

He is survived by: his children, Debby Neuenschwander (Mark) of Berne, Indiana, Lisa Imel (Steve) of Goshen, Indiana, Amy Fenwick (Chuck) of Angola, Indiana and Kevin Gerber (Cara) of Decatur, Indiana; his siblings, Phil Gerber (Gretchen) of Meridian, Mississippi and Rosie Kipfer of Bluffton, Indiana; his siblings-in-law, Charles P. Ratz of Brookeville, Indiana and Rita Gerber of Decatur, Indiana; his grandchildren, Tobey Fenwick, Jerod Fenwick, Andrew Imel, Colten Gerber, Isabelle Gerber and Isaac Imel; and his stepgrandchildren, Dawn Bixler, Craig Neuenschwander (Shawna), Tyler Neuenschwander (Hannah), Tyler Fenwick (Monica) and Jenna Fenwick. He is also survived by 15 step great-grandchildren, and three step great-great-grandchildren.

Preferred memorials are to the Decatur Church of God - Faith Promise or Heart to Heart Hospice.
