With sadness, we share the passing of Kermit Summers of Decatur, Indiana. Kermit, born on May 11, 1949, passed away on September 28, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward L. Summers and Kathryn L. Summers (Reef). He is survived by: his wife Gretchen Summers of Decatur, IN; his sons, John Summers (Angie) of Decatur, IN and Phil Summers (Alissa) of Decatur, IN; his sister Judy Knaupp (John) of Rickreall, OR; and his grandchildren, Katie, Luke, Will, Cameron, Corbin and Colin.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Haggard Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home (225 Adams St, Decatur, IN 46733). Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church (414 Madison St, Decatur, IN 46733).
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic School Athletics or American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
