He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert E. Thatcher and Golda B. Thatcher (Carmean); his son Michael Alan Thatcher; his great grandchild Colt Wayne Sprunger; and his siblings, Graydon Thatcher, Merlyn Thatcher, Gene Thatcher, Ruth Riley, Rosalie Kirkland, Myrna "Mick" Riley and Marilyn "Dot" Callow.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Thatcher of Decatur, Indiana; his children, Kathleen Mollenkopf (Randall) of Convoy, Ohio, David Thatcher (Rosina) of Decatur, Indiana, Lori Bittner (Mark) of Convoy, Ohio, Linda Arnold (Kent) of Decatur, Indiana, Patricia King (Ronald) of Decatur, Indiana, Rebecca Macki (Mark) of Convoy, Ohio and Beth Evans (Mark) of Decatur, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Brooke Vining (Michael), Blake Mollenkopf (Stephanie), Tina Stamper (Brad), Stephanie Allen (Daniel), Elizabeth Scherer (Nathan), Brittany Williams (Josh), Andrew Bittner (Allison), Matthew Bittner (Bethany), Megan Neuenschwander (Kyle), Darla Reed (Danny), Brian Arnold-Froman, Dawn Dawson (Andrew), Kyle Arnold (Sammie), Amie Sprunger (Trevor), Alison O'Connor (Kaileb), Mandy Macki and Jadon Evans. He is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren.
