He was predeceased by: his father Richard A. Rumschlag; and his brother Gary Rumschlag. He is survived by: his mother Bonnie L. Rumschlag (Suman) of Decatur; his wife Patricia Rumschlag of Decatur; his children, C. J. Garwood (Kris) of Monroe, Emily Vanhorn (Colby) of Decatur, Christopher Rumschlag (Amy) of Ft. Wayne and Josef Rumschlag of Decatur; his siblings, Scott Rumschlag of Decatur, Kent Rumschlag of Decatur, Brian Rumschlag of Decatur, Susan Ulrey (Ed) of Van Wert, OH and Debbie Tomlin of Omac, WA; and his grandchildren, Jordan Patterson (Georgia), Lilly Garwood, Ciara Garwood, Kati Garwood, Charlotte Vanhorn, Michael Rumschlag and Vincent Rumschlag. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
