He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Loomis and Helen Loomis (Galland); his former wife Carol Altevogt; his wife Shirley J. Ray; his sons, Louie, Sam and Tony Schindler; and his brother Stanley Loomis.
He is survived by: his children, Kent Loomis (Judy) of Hoagland, Gary Loomis (Kathy) of Missouri, Mike Schindler (Katie) of Ft. Wayne, Larry Schindler of Minnesota, Kathy Ballinger (Steve) of Tennessee, Lori Harvey (Gregg) of Monroe, Linda Geimer (Rick) of Decatur and Toots Kolter (Phil) of Decatur. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
