He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Helms and Wanda Helms (Bunker). He is survived by: his partner Laurie Smitley (Velez) of Decatur; his children, Jason Mathews of Decatur, Jesse Helms of Troy, OH, Lindsey Helms of Troy, OH and Kasey Antoine; and his sisters, Tonni Murphy of Decatur and Penni Helms of Ft. Wayne. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
