He is survived by: his wife Anna Marie Smith of Decatur, Indiana; his children, Steve Smith (Cloe) of Decatur, Indiana, Barbara of Florida, Debra Murdock (Garry) of Decatur, Indiana, Jeff Smith (Tamra) of Decatur, Indiana and Julie Garibay (Nathan) of Madisonville, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Amanda Murdock, Garry Lee Murdock Jr., Andrew Smith, Dr. Cecelia Hale, Matthew Smith, Gavin Garibay and Skyelar Garibay. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Worship Anew.
