He was predeceased by : his parents, Marion Simmons and Agnes Witt Simmons; his sister Nancy; and his son-in-law Russell "Bucky" Hess. He is survived by : his daughter Deborah (Tim Irelan); his grandchildren, Deanne L. Hess, David Baer of Monon, Diane and Paul Jones of Monon; his son Brian K. Simmons of Monticello; his sister Carol (Louis Dunn); his brother-in-law Richard Feaster of Huntsville, AL; his grandchildren, Patrick Irelan, Hannah Irelan, Megan Simmons, Ryan Riley and Colton Jones; and his stepgreat-grandson Kyson Riley.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 9th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Abbott Funeral Home (421 E Main St, Delphi, IN 46923). A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 9th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the same location.
