He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair II and Martha Ann Knapp (Wheeler); and his stepbrother Charles Myers. He is survived by: his wife Karolyn Knapp of DeMotte; his children, Nadeen VanGordan (Jeffrey) of Pinehurst, NC, Clair Knapp IV (Kristi) of Fort Wayne, IN and Jacqueline Edwards (Joe) of DeMotte, IN; his grandchildren, Jeffrey II, Jared, Katrice, Taylor, Clair V, Shanan, Kelsie, Chandler, Cole, Faith, Gracie and AJ; and his sister Sheila Slayton (John). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Clair's name to the American Lung Association.
