He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Laaker and Rosa Laaker (Donna Laaker); his wife Donna Laaker; and his sisters, Ruth Hessell and Verna Beatty.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Laaker (Connie) of Dillsboro and Debra "Debbie" Holland (Michael) of Dillsboro; his sister Esther Goldfuss of Cincinnati; his niece Karen Beatty of Dillsboro; and his grandchildren, Chris Holland (Rhonda), Bryan Holland (Tiffany), Johnathan Laaker (Erica), Stephanie Courter (Steve) and David Laaker.
Memorials may be given in honor of Virgil to St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, Oakdale Cemetery, or Trinity Lutheran Church.
