He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest William and Esther Hoffman (Hankins); and his grandson Billy Ernest William Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Nina Hoffman (Davies) of Dillsboro, Indiana; his children, Ernest William Hoffman of Vevay, Michael William Hoffman (Sara) of Rising Sun, William Cornell Hoffman Jr. of Dillsboro, Indiana, Tracy Wood of Versailles and Nina "Sissy" (Ronnie) of Dillsboro, Indiana; and his siblings, Dennis "Denny" Hoffman of Cross Plains, Indiana, Sheila Webster of Greendale and Teri Scudder of Batesville, Indiana. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 292.
