He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles B. Gatz and Florence Jaguszewski (Chester "Smokey"); his brother John "Jack" Gatz; his mother-in-law Cheryl Photenhauer (John "Jack"); his brother-in-law Anthony Butler; and his pet Harley.
He is survived by: his wife Kayle; his sister Barbara Morrison (Thomas); his sister-in-law Fran Gatz; his pet Copper; his father-in-law Dannie Butler; and his siblings-in-law, Troy Butler (Kim), Erik Photenhauer (Holly), Kelly Butler and Kim Fishback (Rob). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
