With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Erna Beth Yackel of Dyer, Indiana, born in Portland, Oregon, who passed away on September 1, 2022 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Reverend Carsten Seecamp and Julia Seecamp; her husband James Yackel; her children, Jonathan Yackel (Lisa), Juliet Yackel and Carolyn Yackel (Bobby Stecher); her grandchildren, Grant, Nathaniel, Sophia, Oliver and Henry; and her sister Clara Seecamp Klatkee.
She authored myriad research publications and received many awards including the National Science Foundation's prestigious Young Investigator Award.
