She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Peters and Harriet Peters; and her sister Marian Vilardo. She is survived by: her husband Alphon "Buck" Cornet; her children, Desiree Stoffregen (Josh), Mark Casse (Tina), Stephen "Doug" Cornet (Melissa) and John Cornet (Lori); her grandchildren, Peyton, Christopher Kyle, Cameron, Colby, Camille, Norman, Joel, Alex, Kyle C., Camden and Cade; her brother Michael Peters; and her sibling's children, Denise Vilardo and Tom Vilardo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joan's name to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
