He was predeceased by: his father John Ramirez; and his siblings, Violet Reyna, John Ramirez and Daniel Ramirez. He is survived by: his children, David A. Ramirez, Jr. (Carolina), Corrie M. Ramirez (Terry Applewhite), Rachel C. Ramirez and Nicholas H. F. Ramirez; his mother Ernestine Anguiano; and his siblings, Jesse Ramirez and Jacquelin "Jackie" Ramirez. He is also survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
