He was predeceased by: his father Day Pig Roast; his grandson Jonathan; his wife Maggie Santos; his children, Irene Santos and John Villegas (Rosa); and his sisters, Carmen Febo and Aida Figueroa.

He is survived by: his children, Maria Palermo (Jay), Linda Santos, Jacque Good (Chris), Efraín Santos Jr. (Ida), Arlene Black (Donnie), Monica Santos, Joseph Villegas (Melissa), Josette Serrano and Frances Marie Kinney; his grandchildren, Jose, David, Jay Jr., Temeka, Yennie Ann, Nicholas, Francisco, Taylor, Crystal, Taiye, Josette, John Martin, Michael, Brandon, Derrick, Joey, Alyssa, Robert, Jeremy, Jacqueleen and Jarvis; his great grandchildren, Keith, Kenneth, Isaiah, Adrian, Gabriel, Analisia, Alessandra, Anthony, Anabella, Jameson, Gabriella, Rea Martin and Derrick Jr.; and his siblings, Rosa Santiago, José Luis Santos and Roberto Febus.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Church (802 W 144th St, East Chicago, IN 46312). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at the St. John Cemetery (1547 167th St, Hammond, IN 46320).
