She was predeceased by: her parents, Irvin "Ted" C. Gay and Laura M. Gay (Sutley); her husband Charles Argyle Carter; her brother Russell H. Gay; her sister-in-law Donna Gay; and her nieces, Ruscella Carter, Bonnie Galespie, Wynnell Vaugh, Julia Walters, Judy Bauer and Carole Woodruff.
She is survived by: her sons, Steven Carter (Tari) of Ira, MI and James Carter of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Delaney Jo Carter of Grand Rapids, MI, Sean Carter (Casey) of Houston, TX and Charles "Chaz" Carter (Ellen) of South Bend; her stepgrandsons, Josh Cumper (Kendall), Jacob Cumper (Blerta), Jessie Cumper (Hailey) and Jeremy Cumper (Jessica); her nieces and nephews, Betty Gearhart (Allen) of Mishawaka, Linda McElhiney (David) of Mooresville, IN, Lori Pellham (D. H.) of Russellville, AR, John Walters of New Palestine, IN and Dennis Wilson of Mishawaka; and her close friend Catherine Carter of Grand Rapids, MI.. She is also survived by twelve step great grandchildren.
