Carol will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Varner and Laura Varner Sr. (Harter); and her daughter Debi Slone. She is survived by: her children, April Marquez of Elkhart, Tina Schroeder of Elkhart, Kenneth Highbaugh of Elkhart and Dempsey "Tuck" Highbaugh of Jones, MI. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home (403 W Franklin St, Elkhart, IN 46516). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions in memory of Carol may be made to Riley Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Consider a donation, as requested by the family.
