He was predeceased by: his parents, Giuseppe Cataldo and Teresa Cataldo; his son Paul; and his siblings, Concetta Siciliano, Anna Lizzi, Antonio and Bruno Cataldo.

He is survived by: his wife Sarita Heeter; his children, Joseph Cataldo (Autry) of Niles, MI, Teresa Gauvreau (David) of San Diego, CA, Giovana Heeter (Lonnie) of Granger and Massimo Cataldo of Granger; his grandchildren, Dominic, Michael, Catherine, Claire, Anne, Anthony, Mary, Lucy Cataldo, Isabella, Mariella, Paul, Anabelle, Nora, David Gauvreau, Cecilia, Nico, Emila Heeter and Domenico Cataldo; and his siblings, Paolo Cataldo of Italy and Maria Lizzi of Elkhart.
