We announce the death of Elaine Kay Griffen of Elkhart, Indiana, who passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 79. Elaine will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lennis Cook and Opal Cook (Gall); and her brothers, Richard, Drexel and Donald Cook.
She is survived by: her children, Debi O'Bryant (Tim) of Davidson, NC, Dennis Griffen of Elkhart, Doris Mathew (Lee) of Osceola, IN and David Griffen of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Dru O'Bryant, Caitlin O'Bryant (Jacob Anderson), Michael O'Bryant, Nick O'Bryant, Morgan Mathew (Nathan Ladwig), Lindsey Mathew and Kerri Mathew; and her great grandchild Carmela Ladwig.
A graveside service was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Adamsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Billings Funeral Home (812 Baldwin St, Elkhart, IN 46514). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Guidance Ministries.
