He is survived by: his wife Eugenia Hernandez of Elkhart; and his children, Juana Maria Hernandez (Rafael), Jose Faustino Hernandez (Eva), Lucio Hernandez (Beatriz), Juan Ortega (Gracie), Adrian Ortega (San Juana), Cecilia Zuniga (Luis G.), Olga Y. Hernandez, Elizabeth Hernandez-Salinas (Isaias) and Rafael B. Hernandez (Veronica). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
