Gerald Oliver Obituary
Gerald L. Oliver (Jerry), age 82 of Elkhart, IN, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his residence. He was born June 25, 1943 at Ivy Hall Hospital in Elizabethton, TN, to the late William I. and Christine N. Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, James Daniel McNulty; brothers, Ralph Pierce and wife Kay, HD Pierce and wife Marleen, Leslie (Sam) Pierce and wife Sally, Richard Oliver; sister, Doris Oliver Walsh and husband Jake.
Gerald moved to Indiana in 1963. He worked at a company named Riblits in Elkhart, IN. He moved back to TN briefly and worked at North American Rayon. He then moved back to IN and became an over the road truck driver for over 45 years. After retiring from over the road he drove locally in Elkhart, IN.
He also enjoyed wood working and building things and could fix anything that was put in front of him. In general he loved keeping busy and would help anyone who needed him.
He loved his family and spending time with them. He also adored his cats and loved to spoil his dog "Oliver.". He also loved spending time sitting on his porch or in his backyard under his gazebo talking with family and his favorite neighbor, Carlos.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jenny Oliver; daughters, Annette Garland (Earl), Anita Humphrey both of TN, Jennifer Massing (Eric), Miki Risser both of IN; son, Billy Oliver of IN; brothers Bobby Joe Oliver (Pat), Lloyd Oliver both of TN; sister, Elizabeth Wortherspoon (Jerry) of FL; grandchildren, Savannah Schuman (Jeffrey), Dana Matherly, William Matherly, Nick Lawson, Ehlena Slemp, John Michael McNabb, Cody Hollingsworth, Zaria Massing, Hayden Massing, Sharlynn Oliver, Ashley Baskin (Wayne), Elizabeth Oliver and 21 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends June 27, 2026 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Church, 58529 County Rd 23, Goshen, IN, 46528. The memorial service will follow with Pastor Mark officiating.
A memorial service will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on July 11, 2026 at Butler Baptist Church in in Butler, Tennessee with a meal to follow.
