As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Judy; his parents, Dorothy Helbling and Fredrick Helbling (Fritz); and his sisters, Lucille Trim of Hicksville and Phyllis Fansler of Elkhart.
He is survived by: his sons, Chris (Kristena) of Shalimar, Jeff (Lisa) of Bristol, IN and Brian (Tina) of Edwardsburg, MI.. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church (2715 E Jackson Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46516).
Memorials may be given to the cadet or honor guard programs of the Elkhart County Sheriff Department or the Elkhart County Humane Society.
