He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Bickel and Mae Elizabeth Bickel (Weldy); his siblings, Iris Weldy, Terry and James "Jimmy" Lee Bickel; and his stepsons, Daniel and Johnathan Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Brandon Lee Bickel (Natasha) of Nappanee, Elizabeth "Libby" Eby (Josh) of Nappanee, Stacie Trammel (Tom) of Benton, Melanie Bickel of Elkhart and Jeremy Geers (Sandy) of Pleasant Garden; and his stepchildren, Elizabeth Williams (Harvey) of Mishawaka, Matthew Smith (Cindi) of Shipshewana, Jason Smith of Phoenix and Angel Sanchez Mendez (Victor) of Michigan. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
