In the sacred silence of farewell, Joan is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Gaines and Mabel Gaines; her husband Jon W. Grimes Sr.; her stepdaughters, Julie and Nanette; and her sister Millie Beeker.
She is survived by: her children, Jon W. Grimes Jr., Matthew W. Grimes, Nicole J. Grimes and Margie Grimes-Adams. She is also survived by grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Midwest Museum of Art or to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
