He was predeceased by: his father Verlin "Dwight" Shafer; his son Jonathan Shafer; and his granddaughter Karra Shafer. He is survived by: his mother Christobal "Kay" Shafer (Apple); his spouse Celinda Lowe; his children, James Davis, Erick Shafer and Cassandra Pratt (Brad); his grandchildren, Trenity, Madasin, Beau, Mikayla, Colton, Kahlan, Kyler and Emery; his siblings, Bradley Howard (Paulette), Lisa Dooley (Steve) and Steve Shafer (Melinda); his siblings-in-law, Chandra Shugart (Matt) and Jack Lowe (Anita); and his cousin Forrest Apple (Claudia). He is also survived by 6 nephews and many other family members.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society or the Center for Hospice Care.
