He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold W. Showalter and Joan E. Showalter (Chittenden); and his brother Jim. He is survived by: his sister Debra Taylor of Goshen; his niece Jennifer Gill (Larry); and his nephew Steven Taylor. He is also survived by three great nieces, three great nephews, three great-great nephews, and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
