He was predeceased by: his parents, William Smith and Geneva Smith (Donna Smith); his wife Donna Whitcomb; his daughter Kathleen Smith; his brothers, William "Bill" Smith and Thomas Glen "Jim" Smith; his grandson Christopher M. Smith; and his pet Marley.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia I. Leer of Elkhart, Martin W. "Mike" Smith of Elkhart and Christine A. Hack (Richard) of Bristol, IN.; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew Hack, Eric Smith (Sarah Gerkin) and Alaina Mendoza; his great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Anastasia, Alexandria, Vincent, Xavier, Christopher and Callahan; his brother Ronald "Butch" Rogers (Bobbi) of Florida; his close friend Rosie Pickrell of Elkhart, IN.; Michael Leer and Lisa Smith. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
