We bid farewell to Maxine Hammontree (Elkhart, Indiana), born in Gary, South Dakota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 18, 2026 at the age of 90. Maxine touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Lewis Hammontree Sr.; and her parents, Peter Engeseth and Mildred Engeseth (Gustafson). She is survived by: her sons, Lewis Hammontree, Jr. (Jeanette), Scott Hammontree (Jayne) and Dean Hammontree (Marian); and her siblings, Emmeth, Darlene, Donna, Patty and Mary. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Caring Cove Hospice.
