He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Jacob and Mary Virginia Vander Vliet (Hills); and his son Todd. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Marie Hendricks; his children, Jeffrey A. Vander Vliet (Diane) of Elkhart and Lisa D. Parcells (Fred) of Haslett, MI; his sister Mary Jane Kincaid of Fairborn, OH; his grandchildren, Kelsey Ranyard (Louis), Luke Vander Vliet, Anna Parcells and David Parcells; his great grandchild Hallie Ranyard; and his sisters, Betty Poling, Marjorie Kraus and Virginia Russell. He is also survived by extended family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army.
