He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy McMannis and Geraldine McMannis (Reed); his children, Michael Hanson Sr. and Deborah Montagano; and his sisters, Mary Lou and Barbara Sue.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara McMannis; and his children, Carol Cowen of Indiana, Geroge Hanson of Michigan, Barbara Hagy of Indiana, Mary McBrayer of Georgia, Elizabeth Vance of Indiana and Edward Hanson Sr. of Indiana. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ursday Billings Funeral Home (812 Baldwin St, Elkhart, IN 46514). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Sugar Grove Cemetery (58512 Old County Rd 17, Goshen, IN 46528).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family c/o Elizabeth Vance, to help alleviate funeral expenses.
