With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Shirley S. Martin of Elkhart, Indiana, born in Angier, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Grover A. Smith and Carrie Messer Smith; her husband James C. Martin; and her siblings, Grover Loyce Smith, Ralston Lewis Smith, Garland "Bill" Ralph Smith, Grover Artmus Jr. Smith, Charles Lamar Smith, Mary Elizabeth McKinney and Myrtle Alda Ray.
She is survived by: her sons, J. Michael Martin (Laura) of McComb, MS and Jerry C. Martin of Dayton, OH; her grandchildren, Sydney Gall (Kevin) of Elkhart, IN, Alexandra Vanderpool (Jay) of Dayton, OH and Victor Martin of Chapel Hill, NC; and her siblings, Lonnie Sherwood "Buddy" Smith and Elleanor Smith "Pat" Mills. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
