Gretler of Evansville, Indiana, born in Freeport, Illinois, who passed away at the age of 95, on January 30, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Gretler and Mary Ann Gretler (Cardno); his wife Shirley; his brother William; and his daughter-in-law Susan Gretler (Daniel).

He is survived by: his children, JoAnn Gretler, Judy Gretler of Evansville, Thomas Gretler (Theresa) of Evansville, Daniel Gretler of Evansville and James Gretler (Nancy) of Bonney Lake, WA; and his grandsons, Brandon Gretler, Jason Gretler (Katie), William Gretler (Cathryn), Samuel Gretler (Paige Goergen), Michael and Matthew Gretler. He is also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Annunciation Parish at Christ the King Church or St. Vincent DePaul, 809 N. Lafayette Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

“Dear JoAnn, Judy, Tom Dan, Jim and Families: My wife, Karen, and i moved to Evansville and Mead Johnson Company in 1967, after I accepted a position in Food Product Development, reporting to Mr. Gretler. It was the best decision I made in my young career. Al was a most kind and patient boss, and made my work experience of 33 years so rewarding. Shirley and Al were wonderful mentors and friends. Our sincerest sympathy to you all on the death of your Father. May he rest in peace.”
