He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Francis "Ike" Cook and Eldora Broshears Cook; his brother Stephen Earl Cook; and his sister-in-law Terry Merritt Young. He is survived by: his wife Donna Gale Merritt; his daughter Rev. Beth Ann Cook (Art); his brother-in-law Larry Merritt (Julie); his sisters, Frances Ann Smith and Karen Sue Helmbock; and his siblings' children, Jamie Madigan (Pat), Amiee Smith, Jodie Young Drone, Jeanie Young Ferguson (Andy), Stephen Helmbock, Joe Kolezar, Rob Kolezar and Jim Kolezar.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Pierre Funeral Home (2601 W Franklin St, Evansville, IN 47712). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
