He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Schmitt and Ruth Ann Schmitt (Maurer); his daughter Katie Rose Schmitt; his siblings, Ruth Ann Schmitt, Mary Lee Lamble and Allen Schmitt; and his brother-in-law Mike Willman.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Schmitt (Willman); his son Robert David Schmitt (Nicole); his brother Larry Schmitt (Martha); his grandsons, Caden and Jackson Schmitt; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Schmitt, Sharon Willman, Kathy Gilkey, Frank Lamble (Barbara) and Bill Willman (Glenda).
