He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Alton "Bud" Gerard and Emma Julia "Jewell" (Judith); and his brothers, Michael and David. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Gerard (Hutchinson); his sister Judy Wessel; his children, Scott Gerard (Ida) and Sarah "Sally" Gerard (Tom Stancliffe); his grandchildren, Cecelia Garrison (Walt), Alex (Barbara), Ian and Bryan Stancliffe (Molly); his great grandchildren, Amelia, Violet, Stella, Evelyn, Nora, Sterling and William; nephew Marc and nieces Beth and Jessica.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Rapp-Owen Granary, 413 Granary Street or St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Box 173, both in New Harmony, Indiana, 47631.
