He was predeceased by: his parents, John G. Schernekau and L. Virginia Schernekau (Walser) of West Salem, Illinois.; and his former wife Marilyn Schernekau. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Schernekau (Midle); his daughters, Gretchen Stokey (Steve) of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Lori Reitano (Scott) of Indianapolis; his stepson Jimmy Hughes of Evansville, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Ellen Stokey of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Emma Pipes (Mason) of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Mitchell Stokey of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Marilyn Stokey of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Brandon Erickson of Los Angeles, California, Mary Rose Reitano of Indianapolis, Indiana, Vincent Hughes, Leonard Hughes, Robert Hughes, Benjamin Hughes of Evansville, Indiana and Teaira LaGrone (Jeremy) of Evansville, Indiana.; and his pets, Auggie and Grady. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
