He was predeceased by: his parents, James Milton Schwentker, Sr. and Adele Schwentker (Andres); and his siblings, James Milton Schwentker, Jr. and Carolyn Daus. He is survived by: his wife Jean Schwentker; his children, Ellen Gallmeister (Andy), Amy Maroney (Ted) and John Schwentker, Jr. (Dava); his grandchildren, Carly Cox, William "Augie" Gallmeister, Daniel Maroney, Caroline Maroney, Savannah Maroney and Lauren Maroney; and his great grandchild Cooper Cox.
