He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis "Bud" Schafer and Helen Schafer; his siblings, Judy and Mike Schafer; and his daughter Kimiko Lynn.
He is survived by: his spouse Mitsuko Iijima; his son Chris Schafer; his daughter-in-law Laila; his daughter Kumiko Wilkison; his son-in-law Chris; his grandchildren, Cole, Conner (Georgia Lea), Trey Schafer, Zane Wilkison and Kayman (John Coloso); his great grandchild C. J.; his sister Peggy Willis (Gary); and his close friend George Green (Wanda Powell). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to the church for their piano fund.
