She was predeceased by: her parents, Elizabeth Koewler (Neel) and Joseph A. Koewler; her husband Gerald "Jerry" Schimmel; and her brother Joe Neel Koewler. She is survived by: her sons, Jeff Schimmel (Beth) and Robin Schimmel; her grandchildren, Cameron Schimmel (Kaitie White) and Lucas Schimmel (Shelby Maxwell); her great grandchildren, Simon and Winter; her sister Judy Gough (Tom); her niece Reneѐ Gough; and her nephews, Todd Gough and Darrell Koewler.
