Marilyn Ruth Muehlbauer Obituary

Marilyn Ruth Muehlbauer, 89, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her home. She was born October 26, 1934 in Evansville to the late Madeline (Kunz) and Walter Backes.

Marilyn attended Mater Dei High School. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a nurse assistant for over 22 years. Marilyn was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and current member of St. Benedict Cathedral. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid traveler.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Angie (Jim) Romerhausen, Mary Burdette, John (Shereé) Muehlbauer, Barbara (Tom) Kerner, Lori Adkins and Jill Born; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jim Erdmann; brother, Bill Backes; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John Muehlbauer; daughter, Kathy Erdmann; grandson, Michael Erdmann; sons-in-law, Ray Burdette and Chris Born; four brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Alex Zenthoefer officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
