He was predeceased by: his son Gary of Omaha. He is survived by: his wife Lois; his children, Jeff (Carrie Bender) and Melanie (Dan Davis); his parents-in-law, Leslie Bender, Dan Davis of Newburgh and Melanie; and his grandchildren, Sean, Shannon, Chris, Danielle, Emily and Brandon. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

Other organizations where he gave his service was the Evansville Downtown Optimist Club (awarded the Humanitarian Award), SWIRCA, Indiana University Foundation, Camp Carson, and a charter member of Tri-State Athletic Club.
