He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Sunderman and Alma Sunderman (Hilgeman); his former wife Sara Sunderman; his wife Beverly Plymire Sunderman; his son Kent Sunderman; his stepson Robert Plymire; and his sisters, Alma I. Small (Herman), Irene Conrad (Ray) and Selma Mork.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Donna Nelson (Harold), Cathy Burns (late Barry) and Charles Plymire (Rebecca); and his nieces and nephews, Beverly Lichlyter (late Bob), Donna Gelhausen (LeRoy), Rayetta Crabtree (late Dan), David Small (Sheryl) and Herman Small, Jr. (Janis). He is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
