He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. "Jack" Watkins and Delores Watkins; and his brothers, Gary, Jerry and Dennis.

He is survived by: his wife Lisa Lea Watkins (Madison); his daughters, April Wason (Adam) and Melanie Ayers (Scott); his grandchildren, Caleb Gosney, Keller Wason, Isabella Ayers, Quinn Wason and Chase Ayers; his brothers, Jim (Winnie) and Steve (Crystal); and his sister-in-law Vera. He is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews.
