He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Wellmeier and Viola Wellmeier; his wife Mary Rose; and his siblings, Sam Wellmeier, Betty Godman, Jean Schlachter, Jack Wellmeier, Charlotte Kerwick, Dale Wellmeier and Jerry Wellmeier.

He is survived by: his children, Debbie Young (Dave Nash), Ned A. Wellmeier, Kevin Wellmeier (Kathy), Joe Brooks (Sally), Tonya Boarman (Darryl), Jeff Brooks (April) and Penny Johnson. He is also survived by 40 great-grandchildren.
