He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel D. Gray and Stella M. Gray (Wiseman); his wife Doris Gray (Golden); his daughter Pamala Englebrecht; and his sisters, Norma Carter and Janice Curtis.

He is survived by: his daughters, Paula J. Capo (Willie III) and Patricia J. Overton (Dewayne); and his grandchildren, Tara Reynolds, Stoney Hayhurst, Douglas Gray, Amber Capo, Willie Capo, Colton Overton and Ashley Short. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas Place Transitional Housing, 414 Baker Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710.
