With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Richard Joseph Hettwer of Evansville, Indiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hettwer and Sadie Hettwer (Grothe); and his wife Darlene Rae Gibbs-Hettwer. He is survived by: his children, Lori Barnett of Granite City, IL and Richard Hettwer (Nell) of Granite City, IL; his sisters, Mary Luscher and Shirley Hettwer; his stepchildren, Martye Fitts (Allen) of Wadesville, IN, Kellye Ramsey (David) of Evansville, IN, Donna Stonner of Franklin, NJ and Martyn Laughlin of Ft. White, FL; and his grandchildren, Topper Ramsey, Scott, Braiden, Cody, Patrick Fitts, Richie Hettwer, Chris Hettwer, Sam Gushleff, Loran Kromray, Asa Kromray and Taylor Bolden. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Browning Funeral Home (738 E Diamond Ave, Evansville, IN 47711). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
