He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Maurer; his stepfather John Maurer; his father Marion Schutz; and his stepmother Frances Schutz. He is survived by: his wife Patty Schutz; his children, Sandy Hartman (Doug), Shaun Bunner (Kirk), Brian Schutz (Amanda) and John M. Haller (Amy); and his siblings, Anne Burns, Christine Johnson, Randy Schutz, John Schutz and Stan Maurer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's honor to the First Southern Baptist Church or The American Legion Funkhouser Post #8.
