He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold C. Barton and Edna M. Barton; his son David A. Barton Sr.; his grandsons, David A. Barton Jr. and Daniel A. Barton; and his brothers, Franklin L. Barton and Daniel W. Barton Sr..

He is survived by: his wife Joan; his grandchildren, Karla Bradley of Evansville, IN, Brandon Barton Rapplean of Denver, CO, Chris Pate (David A. Barton Jr.) and Cary Barton (Daniel A. Barton); his sisters, Bonita Abston (Howard) of Crawfordville and Patricia Barton (Daniel W. Barton Sr.); his great grandchildren, Lacey, Aliesha, Dalan, Dilyne, Mason and Trevor; and his nephew Kenneth R. Barton. He is also survived by many great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home-East (2115 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Alexander East Chapel (2115 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714).
